Board approves making Election Day, Juneteenth teacher workdays in 2023-24 On Wednesday, the school board approved changes to the 2023-24 instructional calendars that will make Election Day (Nov. 7, 2023) a teacher workday for all calendars and Juneteenth (June 19, 2024) a teacher workday for year-round calendars. Please print and save the new calendars for your records. Thank you for supporting the school bond Thank you, Wake County voters, for your overwhelming support of the $530.7M school bond. • Significant repairs to schools, such as roofs, heating, air conditioning and plumbing

  • Replacements for equipment that has aged out, such as classroom furniture, student and staff devices and security upgrades

  • The construction of five new schools on new sites

Board approves new equity policy The Board of Education approved a new equity policy during its Nov. 16 meeting. The policy defines equity as an action and an outcome for students across our district. The policy also challenges us to ensure equity across all levels of the organization. Board approves 2023-24 student enrollment plan Because no new schools are opening in 2023-24, this year's student assignment proposal focused on relieving overcrowded schools and filling underutilized schools. These changes will allow students to attend a less crowded school and to have shorter bus routes. Affected students will be able to request a stability transfer to stay at their current school, though they will be ineligible for transportation.
